John Lennon was one of the most famous singers.
He was also an author, writer, poet and composer.
John Winston Lennon was born on October 9. in 1940 during an air-raid from the German air force in Liverpool. In honour of the British Prime Minster Winston Churchill, he got the John Winston Lennon.

Lennon’s father Alfred, was a ship steward. He lost his ship and also his family.
After his father arrived in England in 1945, his parents had a very big quarrel and John lived with his mother’s sister. Her name was Mimi Smith.
He went to the primary school and later the Quarry Bank High School. In 1955 he founded his first band the Quarrymen. He took the name from his school. During this time he wrote also a book, the name was The Daily Howl. Four years later they changed the name of the music group.

The new name of the group was The Beatles. They had very many fans. John‘s mother died when he was 17 years old. In summer 1956 John met Paul Cartney and they began to write songs together. His first LP called „Please, please me“ came out in 1963.
In the same year he married his first wife, Cynthia Powell. Their son Julian was born in 1963 too. Two years later he divorced and then he took drugs. Later he met Yoko Ono and they married. When his second son was born in 1975 John Lennon said good bye to music. After his comeback in 1980 he was murdered on the 8th December in New York.

Ono finished the album “Milk and Honey” in 1984, which John Lennon had begun before he died.
In the next years, his widow found more and more boxes with missing material.
The rest of the Beatles made three double CDs. Twenty-five years ago the Beatles
were top in all single hit parades all over the world.
Today, more than twenty years after his death, John Lennon‘s still a very famous man. And hundreds of fans meet on the 8th of December in Strawberry Fields.
