Albert Einstein ingenious physicist. He was born in Germany, in Ulm in 1897, on the 14th of March. In 1886 he went to Munich. Two years later he entered the Luitpold-Gymnasium. In 1895 He prepared himself for the admission examinations for the Federal Polytechninic School in Zurich; although his performences in mathematics and physics were outstanding, he failed the examination. At the end of 1895 he was accepted by the commercial department of the Gymnasium in Aarau. In 1896 he lost the German nationality; for the next 5 years he was stateless. At the end of the 19th. century he qualifiled for University admission and commenced his studies at the Polytechnic Highschool in Zurich. At the beginning of the 20th century he got the Swiss nationality. Einsteins paper A new definition of molecule dimensions was accepted at the University of Zurich as his dissertation theme. The paper On electro dynamically excited bodies, the theroy of relativity published in the annals, a supplement to this work contains the famous formula:
E=mc2
In 1906 he wrote the work on specific heat, foundation for the quantum theory of solid bodies, 3 years later he was appointed Professor extraordinarius for the theoretical physics at the University of Zurich. In 1913 Einstein was selected in the physic-maths class of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences and later he left Zurich and went to Berlin. At the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 Einstein reacted as a committed pacifist; for the first time he was intensively occupied with political problems. In 19 16 he found the general theory of relativity, the first systematic representation. In December he completed the special and general theory of relativity, in simple terms , his most famous book. In 1919 he wrote the forecast of the deflection of light in the gravitational field of the sun following from the general theory of relativity, confirmed in the solar eclipse of 29th May; the Einstein legend commences. 3 years later he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for the year 1921. In 1925 he published Quantum theory of the single-atom ideal gas; he discoverd the reason for the wave character of matter. For 8 long years he emigrated to the USA. In 1939 he signed a letter to President Roosevelt, in which he referred to the possibility of the atomic bomb and the risk of such a weapon in German hands. A year later he became an American citizen but he retained his Swiss citizenship. In 1941 was the beginn of the Manhatten project for the development of the atomic bomb; he did not participate, as he was regarded as a security risk. And in 1952 he died in Princetown, on the 18th April.
My reason for choosing Einstein:
I find him ingenous and an interesting man. And I think he was very diligent. But theres a disadvantage: the Atomic physics. But I have one question to Einstein: When he lived, did he have any free time? Or was he only behind his books?
