Kurt Donald Cobain was born in Hoquiam, near Aberdeen, U.S.A. on the 20th of February in 1967. Later his family moved to Aberdeen. Aberdeen is in the State of Washington and surrounded by forest. Kurt hated the town and he hated the people in Aberdeen. The town was quite bad, because there were so many drug delicts and so many suicides. He was interested in music very early. His uncle played in a rock’n’roll band and his aunt played guitar.
On the 24th of April in 1970 Kurt’s sister Kimberley was born and Kurt was really unhappy about her birth. Kurt was more and more unhappy with himself. In 1975 Kurt’s parents divorced and Kurt suffered because of them. In 1979 Kurt’s uncle committed suicide and another uncle, too! After highschool, Kurt met Krist Novoselic. With him Kurt set up a band and played Grunge-music. The drummer was a friend, Aaron Burckhart; Krist Novoselic played the bass-guitar and Kurt Cobain was the singer and played the e-guitar. They were called Ted, Ed, Fred or Stiff Woodies.
But then the name „Nirvana“ came and the name remained. In 1988 Aaron left the band and Krist found the ’best’ drummer: Dave Grohl. Nirvana had their first fans and they got more popular with the Grunge. Nirvana invented the Grunge music style!
In September 1991 the album “Nevermind” came out and got to number one in the charts. The first single of “Nevermind” was “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and got to number one in the single-charts. After that came “Come As You Are” and got to number one in the single-charts, too. ’Nevermind’ was and is great!
In 1992 Kurt Cobain married Courtney Love. In 1994 Nirvana published the new album ’Nirvana Unplugged in New York’. This one is in the Guinness-Book of Records: The most sold Grunge-Album. That was the last album by Kurt. Nirvana’s-frontman Kurt Cobain died on the 5th April in 1994 on an overdose of heroin and a bullet he shot through his head. An electrician found Kurt 3 days later at his home.
I think Kurt Donald Cobain made beautiful songs and he was a great man. My favourite song is “Smells Like Teen Spirit” made by Nirvana. The music-style Grunge, I think, is a very new style and sounds very good. I really believe it! Why I chose Kurt Cobain? Because I’m interested in the Nirvana songs and I always was interested in Nirvana.
