Bob Marley

Bob's right name was Robert Nesta Marley. He was born on the 6th January 1945 in Rhoden Hall in the North of Jamaica. His mother was 18 years old when Bob was born. Cedella Brocker was her name, her friends said Ciddy, She was a black Jamaican woman. Bob's father was 50 years old and the name was Captain Norval Sinclair Marley, He was English. It wasn't good to have a job in the English Army and have a Jamaican wife. He took another job in Kingston (the biggest city of Jamaica) and so he ccould make money and give half to his family. Bob and his mother lived in the east of St. Ann and they had a little store. A friend of Bob Marley was there too: Neville "Bunny" Living-stone. He was born on the 10th April of the year 1947. They liked stories of magic and other things. He could read the hands and everybody made big eyes. When 5 years old Bob went to a very good school in the city. But he didn't go there. He went to an old woman. His mother found him there. The father of Bob Marley married another woman, but he died two months later in 1955, because his heart was broken. After the death of Bob's father, Ced-ella wanted to live in Kingston. She got a job in a kitchen and she cooked very well. Bob and his mother lived in the Yards of Kingston. Bob Marley had to wait by the friends of his mother, but Bob and Bunny were a pain in the neck of these friends. Then Bob and Bunny had to stay with her. To live in the Yard was very hard, but it was a big family. After school they played football. Bob Marley changed to a private school, because in the school of the ghetto there were only "rude boys". They made only strange things: they listened to music with a ghetto blaster. The favorite singers come all from the city of New Orleans. They were: Curtis Mayfield, Ray Charles, Brook Benton or the Drifters. Bob and Bunny played the guitar alone at home. The mother of Bob wanted that Bob changed job, but Bob wanted only music, music, music...

In the end he found another job, because he loved his mother and he made it for her. In the company in which he worked, Bob met Desmond Dekker.

In his free time he made only music with Bunny. He wanted to go in a music school, so that he could sing better. Joe Higgs was the teacher for the two boys and there they met Peter McIntosh.

He was intersted in the History of the Back-to-Africa-Movemenr. Marcus Garvey made the history popular in the world and later he wrote the History of the Rastafraianismus. History of the Rastafraianismus.

In the 1962 Bob Marley went to a concert of Leslie Kong and sang a song. Bob could make three records with very good singers. He knew Jimmy Cliff now. The first record was "Judge Not" on the Beverly label. The two other records: "Terror" and "One Cup of Coffee" weren't good, but he got 20m pounds and two copies. Once Bob had a conflict with Leslie Kong, because he said he earned very much money with him, but he wasn't happy with them. At work he had to go to the hospital and his mother told him he mustn't go to this company. Now he going to be singer.

Bob wrote very many songs and made a group in 1963 with Bunny Livingstone and Peter Tosh (he was born in 1944). The first name of the group was "Teenager", but later they changed the name to "Wailing Wailers". Then Beverly Kelso joined the ground with Cherry Smith as background singer. Bob asked Peter Tosh, if he could have a new guitar and later they bought one. Peter Tosh wanted to be the bandleader, but Bob Marley was the best. The band was very famous but now Bob Marley is dead.
